Halo therapy

Halotherapy, also known as salt therapy, involves exposing individuals to a controlled environment with salt-infused air. While it's more commonly associated with human health, there isn't substantial information available about the specific benefits of halotherapy for horses as of my last knowledge update in September 2021. However, it's important to note that horses, like humans, can suffer from respiratory issues, and halotherapy could potentially offer some benefits in terms of improving their respiratory health.

Some potential benefits for horses could include:

1. Respiratory Health: Halotherapy may help horses with respiratory conditions like heaves or allergies by providing them with cleaner air and potentially reducing inflammation in the airways.

2. Relaxation: The calming effects of halotherapy may also benefit horses by reducing stress and promoting relaxation.

3. Skin Health: Salt can have positive effects on skin conditions, so halotherapy might indirectly benefit horses with skin issues.

It's crucial to consult with a veterinarian or equine specialist before considering halotherapy for your horse to determine if it's a suitable treatment option and to ensure the safety and well-being of your horse. Additionally, developments in halotherapy for horses may have occurred since my last knowledge update, so I recommend checking for more recent information and professional advice if you're considering this therapy for your horse.

Certainly, here are a few more potential benefits of halotherapy for horses:

4. Enhanced Performance: Improved respiratory health can lead to better oxygen intake and, consequently, enhanced physical performance in horses during training and competition.

5. Allergen Reduction: Halotherapy's ability to reduce allergens in the air might benefit horses that are sensitive to environmental allergens, leading to fewer allergy-related health issues.

6. Post-Exercise Recovery: Salt therapy may aid in the recovery of horses after strenuous exercise by helping to reduce muscle inflammation and promoting overall relaxation.

7. Improved Hoof Health: In some cases, halotherapy might indirectly contribute to better hoof health due to its potential antimicrobial properties.

It's important to remember that while halotherapy may offer these potential benefits, individual results can vary, and the use of halotherapy for horses should be done under professional guidance

For the past few years I have been treating my horses with Equery blanket and found it beneficial in conditioning the horses especially in the topline, shoulders, and hind legs. The best combination was using the blanket along with the cryo therapy and halotherapy for recovery.

The Equery blanket has helped my horses immensely throughout their competitive season. With treatments pre and post competition, i have noticed a change in their condition overall, from the formulation of muscles to the the recovery of the body as a whole.
